I’VE GOT SOMETHING TO SAY!
To blog or not to blog! It is a hard thing to think about putting yourself out there in a semi-civil climate, much less the climate of today. I have to say, I have contemplated and hesitated for quite some time. The enemy would have me sit back and be quiet. But the Lord says to, “shout it from the mountaintops!” (Isa 42:11)
{Actually, it would be good to read that whole chapter…Ok, the whole book of Isaiah is a fantastic, eye-opening read.}
So, (hear) goes!

In Isaiah 42:8 the Lord tells us He “will not yield His glory to another or His praise to idols.”
“IDOLS??!,” you say. “That’s Old Testament! It has nothing to do with us today!” That is exactly what I thought. Until pretty recently. I mean, I’ve heard we make our children our idols, maybe our husband our idols. And I would admit, “GUILTY” of both. What’s the harm in that?
Maybe, we need to look at the definition of the word idol.
The Google dictionary says an idol is an image or representation of a god used as an object of worship. But it also defines an idol this way, “a person or thing that is greatly admired, loved or revered.”
Ok, so??! It goes on to explain that it is an object of worship or an EXTREME amount of adulation. Does that bring anything to mind? I could name numerous things throughout my life that I have given that type of attention to. It never crossed my mind that I had idolatry in my life. After all, this is “modern day Christianity”. Simply put, idolatry is ANYTHING we put ahead of God. OUCH! The very first commandment is “you shall not have any other gods before Me.” Take it a step further, idolatry is present when someone else’s opinion matters more than what God has to say about it. Even when it’s our own.
Is it possible that idolatry is the open door that gives the enemy legal right to your life? Could it really be possible that the troubles you have and/or have had throughout your life could be explained in this way? I don’t know, but I would venture a yes for most of us. I do know that no matter the “why” there is a “how to get free card”.
God has given us a resolution/solution…
